Jon walked into his monthly band meeting with seven things to do, and walked out with one.
Seven Things Becomes One
Jon recorded this walk straight out of his monthly band meeting, the small group of four to six men he meets with regularly for real conversations. Business was on the table, and he came out of it with a list of seven things to do. His buddy Tim wasn’t having it, and kept repeating the same line until it stuck.
“There’s only one thing you need to do after this meeting, and until it’s done with excellence, don’t do two.”
Withholding Isn’t Lying, But It Isn’t the Truth Either
Jon admits two things he hasn’t always done well: saying his truth out loud instead of holding it back to spare feelings, and being humble enough to ask for counsel. On this walk, he did both. Withholding your real thought from someone isn’t technically lying, but it isn’t honesty either, it’s just a quieter way of avoiding the conversation.
What a Band Actually Is
If the term is new, a band in Front Row Dads is four to six men who meet monthly for real conversations. That same structure of real counsel is what let Jon ask for help he actually needed instead of carrying seven priorities alone.
